Washington:The US authorities will be assisting the Nigerian government to find and free more than 200 schoolgirls abducted by militants.
US is now focusing to improve the forensic and investigative capacity of Nigeria by sharing information.
President Barack Obama has briefed on the issue and his national security team will be monitoring the situation closely.
More than 200 girls from Chibok community in northeastern Nigeria’s Borno State were abducted in April. The Boko Haram militant group has claimed responsibility for the act and threatened to sell the girls.
Boko Haram is a terrorist organization known for its heinous and malicious deeds and intentions.
According to the information from United States many of the abducted girls would have taken out of the country and moved to neighboring countries.
In November last year, US had blacklisted Boko Haram as a terrorist organization and slashed sanctions on it, including denied access to US financial institutions, freezing of its assets in US banks and a ban on doing business or providing support to it.
