After the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, stages a showdown to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. Aside from a Bat-signal in the season finale, we never got to see him. Robert Pattinson’s cameo in The Penguin. In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: Where was Batman? Colin Farrell fought hard to get his own version of “The Penguin’s Smoking Tobacco” in The Batman (2022), but he failed. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user, preferring cigars. The DC Studios logo is on a rainy Gotham alley. The first episode is a direct sequel to Matt Reeves’s. Batman and I imagine those who haven’t seen the latter will be a bit lost. But I watched The Batman a while back and this show did a great job of picking up where the movie left off without getting bogged down in a didactic recap. It also beautifully captures the film’s aesthetic and gritty tone, though the show has far more moments of wit than the film. As in Batman, Colin Farrell does a great job of portraying The Penguin as a stereotypical mobster. ;street kid:" rude, dirty, vivacious and quick to commit violence; but also savvy, cunning and able to read people. The character may not be entirely unrelated to the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. I have my doubts about the Penguin series being a teenage sidekick; and I don’t know if The Penguin’s machinations will be enough to sustain a full season. But for now, it’s a great start.
