Peshawar: Pakistani fighter jets have attacked suspected militant hideouts in the tribal areas on the Afghan border killing at least 18 insurgents. According to Pakistan military officials, this is the third air strike in a series since last week.
The air strikes were following the failure of the peace negotiations with Taliban insurgents. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had then authorized the army officials to launch raids against militants in the volatile region on the Afghan border.
The fighter jets have destroyed the militant training centers in Tirah Valley from where they were providing intensive training for suicide bombing. Manufacturing of explosives were also carried out at this location.
Taliban has told the government that there is no scope for peace in the country unless Pakistan is coming forward to change its political and legal system and officially establish Islamic law.
