Washington: Leader of the Indian Al Qaeda is reported to have killed during an US air-strike launched to counter terrorism in the area.
He was an American citizen called Ahmed Farouq and recognized him as the leader of Al Qaeda activating in Indian sub continent.
According to media report, Al Qaeda of Indian Subcontinent(AQIS) is new terror group following the principles of the Afghan Al Qaeda.
Two Al Qaeda hostages, Warren Weinstein of the US and Giovanni Lo Porto from Italy, were reported to have killed in the same air strike.
The new branch of Al Qaeda was first made its presence, when its militants infiltrated to the naval yard of Pakistan and made an attempt to hijack one of its ships in September 2014.
The group’s spokesperson, Usama Mahmoud, on Twitter has compared the Pakistani naval officers involvement in the attempted hijacking of ship to Nidal Hasan.
Hasan is the US Army psychiatrist sentenced to death for killing 13 people at Fort Hood, a US Army base in Texas.
Osama Mehmood, a spokesperson for Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, said that Farouq and another top figure, Qari Abdullah Mansur, were killed in a January 15 drone strike in Pakistan’s Shawal Valley.
According to Mehmood, both Farouq and Mansur were senior leaders of the Indian branch Alqaeda.
