Google launches indoor maps in India


New Delhi: Google, the global Technology giant has launched indoor maps in India that help users to browse through and locate specific locations inside venues like malls and museums. The service is already available in countries like the U.S., Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. The Director and Product Manager of Google India (Maps) Suren Ruhela said that the Indoor maps are helpful to users to locate stores, especially in an unfamiliar shopping mall or an important section in a museum. With this, the people of India can collect detailed floor plans for 75 popular indoor venues with a few easy swipes. The aforesaid service is available free to Android and iOS users. The Director of Google has also said that they have worked with 75 partners across 22 cities in India in view to bring-out a successful indoor map. He is expected to unveil the list of venues within a few days. Some of the major locations included in the map are Ambience Mall in Gurgaon and Select City Walk in Delhi. The Google maps will also cover locations in cities like Bhopal, Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Jaipur, Kochi, Lucknow, Ludhiana and Moradabad. In addition to malls, indoor maps can mention about National Art Gallery for Modern Art in Delhi, Salar jung museum in Hyderabad and Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
