France: Recently, an artificial heart implantation surgery was carried out in France. This surgery has great significance because this is the ever first artificial heart implantation surgery in the world. The artificial heart required for this surgery was designed by a biomedical institution in France called ‘Carmet’. This complicated surgery was carried out by a team of 16 doctors at the Georges Pompidou Hospital in Paris. The first artificial heart implantation was experimented on an aged man of seventy five.

According to the hospital sources the operation was successful and the patient has been recovering after the operation. As temporary arrangements, the artificial heart had been in use earlier onwards. But, this is the first time that an artificial heart has been used for a permanent replacement. The artificial internal organ is said to have manufactured from fossil materials. Before the operation, the patient was in a very critical condition. Doctors said that the life term of the patient has been increased by five years after the implantation process. One of the doctors in the surgery team Dr. Christian Lathraemulae said after the operation that the patient can lead ordinary life hereafter.
