Canberra: Not less than 40 Australian women are reported to have joined ISIS militant group in Syria and Iraq. These women are to support the militant group during their various terror attacks.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has said in parliament that an increasing number of women were going to Syria and Iraq to join their husbands who have been fighting for the Islamic State (IS) or with a strong desire to marry one of the hardcore terrorists.
Dozens of Australian nationals are thought to have joined the IS terror group.
Australian officials are now so much annoyed about the effect of returnees, and those who have been supporting the terrorists, under the grounds of domestic security.
According to Ms. Bishop, women in IS group comes nearly one-fifth of all foreign fighters in Syria and Iraq.
As per the news report, the IS terrorist group has given instructions regarding the treatment on sexual slaves which includes raping and beating of women. Even children are not exempted by them.
It is said that there are also instructions encouraging sexual assault on girls who have not yet reached puberty.
These heinous acts are apart from their routine killings and executions.
Ms. Bishop has also appealed family and friends to approach vulnerable young people and prevent them from being radicalized.
Meanwhile an Australian man fighting with Kurdish militant group against IS is believed to have been killed in northern Syria.
Last day, Prime Minister Tony Abbott has announced a proposal to tighten citizenship laws in the country in an attempt to target domestic extremists.
For dual nationals, he has been thinking about suspending citizenship.
He said that the people born in Australia could also lose some privileges if they broke anti-terror laws.
According to him, Australians who have gone to support terrorist groups in their attacks, especially while Australian military personnel are engaged in Afghanistan and Iraq, can be considered as fighting against their-own country and such practices should be treated accordingly.
