Goldfish brain has long term memory


Canada: Researchers at the University of Canada have found that at least one species of Goldfish can remember where it was given food for 12 days.
According to the new research reports, the brain of Goldfish may be a myth.
For this particular research, Goldfishes were trained to enter a particular zone of an aquarium by arranging their food at that particular zone.
After 12 day rest, they were re-introduced to the same aquarium and their movements were noticed.
Those Goldfishes were showed a distinct preference for the area previously associated with their food reward, indicating that they have the capacity to remember the location from where they were being fed in the aquarium.
After further training they were also able to stop making association when the food was linked with a different stimulus.
These researches on African Goldfish were inspired by accountable reports on their intelligence from aquarium owners.
According to the team leader of the research wing, certain species of Goldfish even watch television programs.
