New Delhi: The Supreme Court has put-forth an order for prohibiting Tamilnadu’s centuries-old traditional ‘Jallikattu’ bull fights.
A bench of Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan and Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose have asked the center to amend the law for rescuing innocent bulls from the cruelty of men.
The court also struck down a 2011 Tamil Nadu law which regulates the conduct of Jallikattu.
The law was to ensure protection to not only for the participants but also for the spectators while conducting Jallikattu from January to May at various places in Tamil Nadu.
The amendment of the law was in the background of large number of deaths and injuries that used to happen during the sport.
