New Delhi: In current educational ranking Kerala has come down from the seventh to the 14th position while Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra retained their ranks. This is told by the District Information System for Education (DISE) as per the report prepared by the National University of Education Planning and Administration (NEUPA). About 1.5 million educational institutions which offered school education during 2012-2013 were considered for the concerned study.
Another notable factor in the report is regarding Gujarat. The state has lost their ninth position and slipped down to the 18th despite Chief Minister Narendra Midi’s efforts to develop his state.
According to the index report Maharashtra retained their 8th rank while Tamil Nadu remained as it is at their third place.
The rank of Uttar Pradesh is 34th which is two positions below the previous ranking. West Bengal which is at 31 now is also behind two places. Delhi is slipped down to 11th position from the 6th place as mentioned in the previous ranking.
Lakshadweep is also considered for preparing this educational development index followed by Puducherry and Sikkim next which is at the 4th place.
Sikkim together with other northeastern states showed a remarkable progress in education in comparison with other parts of the country. They have improved their rankings considerably when compared to the previous year. Sikkim had secured the 12th position during 2011-12.
Manipur has mounted up from 24th to the 9th place whereas Mizoram from 19th to 10th place.
The ranking highlights the attainments of the states in the education sector.
