Gavaskar to appoint as new BCCI chief

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has made a proposal to appoint former Indian captain and batting legend Sunil Gavaskar as a temporary president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Recently, the present BCCI chief N. Srinivasan had been asked to depart from the position by the Supreme court.
The two-judge bench of the apex court also suggested to suspend two Indian Premier League teams called Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals from this year’s IPL schedules which starts on April 16th.
Gavaskar is the first player to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket and currently involved with the game as a television commentator. When he heard about the Supreme Court’s decision, he expressed his willingness to take charge as the new BCCI chief.
According to the Supreme court, Srinivasan’s resignation is inevitable for enabling free and fair inquiry into the prevailing issues related to the Indian Premier League matches.
