Cairo: Egyptian court has ordered death sentence to 529 people in the country. If the court order comes in to force, this will be the largest capital punishment case on record.
The alleged were supporters of the ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi. They were convicted on charges of killing a police officer and the attempted murder of two other police officers when attacked a police station in the Nile Valley city of Minya in August.
The suspects were arrested in last August during a wave of turbulence that killed 900 people in the capital city. The present court order not final. The accused have given opportunities to file appeal on the court order. Sixteen people who found guiltless are acquitted.
