Toronto: Kate Comeau, a registered dietitian and spokeswoman for the Dietitians of Canada said that it is not ideal for Canadians to have either restaurant or processed foods often. It results higher weight gain, consumption of more calories and increased sodium intake.
She has advised to have meals comprising of three or four food groups. In the plate the meals menu should be 50% vegetables, 25% grains or starch and the rest 25% protein.
According to Comeau, in cheese pizza, some of the food groups mentioned theoretically are present.
Generally,the pizza crust is prepared with grains, tomato sauce and cheese to smear it.
Regarding the quality of ingredients and amount of nutrients in Pizza, it would never maintain the quality of a home cooked food varieties.
Eatables should be fresh with added sugar and sodium. Pizza can never be included in these categories. According to the dietitians, Pizza is not ideal to take every day.
