New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will not be the prime ministerial candidate for the party. Meanwhile he will lead the party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Recently, there were so many assumptions regarding his role in the party.
The decision was taken at the extended session of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting which lasted for almost two hours. In the meeting, several leaders had demands for declaring Rahul Gandhi as the Congress prime ministerial candidate. But the party president Sonia Gandhi said that the Congress did not have any custom or commitment to make such a declaration before the elections.
While hearing this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley criticized the Congress for not declaring Rahul Gandhi as their prime ministerial candidate.
