Award to died Pakistani school boy

The Pakistani schoolboy who died while stopping a suicide bomber from attacking his school has been recommended for the country’s highest civilian award. Aitezaz Hassan (17) prevented the bomber while he was trying to enter a government school in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Hassan and the bomber died on the spot but succeeded in rescuing his school mates and staffs unhurt. His father said that his sweet son has done a great job by rescuing his classmates and teachers. He also revealed that he has no regret and feels proud on the heroic performance of his son.

The bomber came to the school wearing a school uniform on Monday. He had hidden explosives under his dress. Students noticed the same and started shouting to stop him. Meanwhile, Aitezaz held him head on but the bomb exploded injuring him seriously. Last day, provincial police chief Nasir Khan Durrani recommended Aitezaz for Pakistan’s top civilian award. Newspapers as well as editorials were praising his bravery and contrasted the incident with the government’s approach towards militancy.
