In the timeless town of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate love, oblivion, and the inescapability of their past and destiny. This is Netflix’s most expensive Latin American project to date, with Colombian groups and indigenous communities building props and sets for the series. Fascinating. A visual marvel and a philosophical masterpiece. Pure magic. So light and easy to watch, yet so profound. An adaptation that definitely does justice to the source material. I wish I could speak Spanish because I’m sure it’s much better in the original language, but it’s quite fascinating in English. Not to mention how beautiful the cast is. Simply amazing. It’s a near-perfect translation of Gabriel García Márquez’s Magnum Opus: One Hundred Years of Solitude. Beautiful cinematography, enigmatic and interesting plot, incredibly written characters, a love letter to Gabriel! It made me reread the book after decades… “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming releases this month. Check out our December calendar for more!
